December 2016 Income Report and Plans

December-Income-Report-OnlineMoneyzThis is my 22nd income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

I decided to do a separate report for December and for the year of 2016, so if you’re interested in how my entire year went and how much money I made, come back here soon! (I’ll put a link in the intro once I finish the post.)

What I Did in December

December was a soul-searching and foundation building month.

I thought about my ultimate goals, dreams, and visions and tried to figure out what I should do next in internet marketing and in life.

Online I:

  • Looked at various keyword and SEO services to see if I could streamline my Amazon affiliate site process. I’m good on the content at the moment as my VA has that covered, but I need to work on SEO.
  • Read up on using Pinterest to drive traffic to my websites. The next step is creating a plan and outsourcing this to my VA. This is obviously not as good as me figuring it out first and then showing her how to do everything, but I’m limited on time.
  • Did some test videos using Content Samurai.

Offline I:

  • Survived my first final exams in college and completed the semester!
  • Wrote in a journal and tried to figure out what I want to do later in life and what I should be doing in 2017. This is a process that I should be going through constantly as goals change and it’s important to be aligned with your goals/vision.

Goals:

I wanted to spend some time de-stressing and relaxing so I could attack 2017 with renewed strength, but this didn’t work out as well as I thought it would.

I did rest, but I found it hard to “turn myself off” so to speak and not think about what I have to do internet marketing and business wise.

I’m trying out a float tank later in January and I might also start meditating again as that was very helpful.

  • REST Succeeded (sorta)I spent time reading, sleeping, and playing video games, but not as much as I would’ve liked to.
  • Look over, edit, and publish the 25 drafts I currently have on WHQ. SucceededIt feels so good to be done with this. Now there’s 64 published posts on the site. Not at 100 yet, but still a lot of content considering that most of these posts are 1,000+ words.
  • Create a Pinterest account for WHQ and teach my VA how to create content for it and what/how/when to post it. FailedI researched it, but haven’t taken any action.
  • Publish at least 2 posts on OnlineMoneyz. Failed0 posts as always. I have a new “journey” that I’ll be starting in January though so that’ll add at least 1 extra post per month.

November 2016 Income Reports and Plans

november-income-reportThis is my 21st income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in November

November was the first month when I actually published a couple posts on this site.

I also prepared hard for Black Friday (I sort of succeeded, but sort of failed), and kept on grinding Amazon affiliate wise.

Online I:

  • Published on OnlineMoneyz:
  • Published 25+ deal posts on this site and had my VA publish about 10 deal posts on WHQ. I started this way too late, otherwise I would’ve tried to get to 100+ articles posted. My OM articles worked well as the domain is much stronger than WHQ, so I know exactly what I need to do for next year to make $$$$$ on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
  • Started cutting expenses in order to invest money into more content and save for next year. I need money for next year, and since this source of income isn’t guaranteed, I should be saving some of it.
  • Brainstormed different ways of monetizing this site as now it’s pretty much a labor of love.

Offline I:

  • Participated in my first real Thanksgiving.
  • Spent hours on homework and classes.
  • Fed squirrels on campus.

Goals:

Most of these goals are Amazon affiliate focused as I decided to focus on one thing instead of stretching myself too thin.

  • Look over, edit, and publish the 21 drafts I currently have on WHQFailedI haven’t done anything and now I have 25 drafts I need to look at…
  • Keep finding keywords and helping my VA pump out affiliate/product-oriented content. SucceededPublished a bunch of Black Friday posts and high quality review posts.
  • Possibly create a Pinterest/Facebook account for WHQ and teach my VA what to post and how to post on them. FailedStill in the works. Will definitely go ahead with the Pinterest account, but I’m not sure about Facebook.
  • Write at least 5 posts each oriented at Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts and promote them online. Succeeded. Got about 40 posts up. Promoted them on reddit and Facebook, but most of the search traffic came from extreme long tails in SERPs that I ranked for in less than a day.

October 2016 Income Reports and Plans

october-income-reportThis is my 20th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in October

While October was an incredibly busy month for me, I didn’t do anything that is easy to see right now.

I don’t have any posts up on this site, and all of the work that my VA and I have been putting in hasn’t translated into real money yet.

Online I:

  • Recorded many video tutorials for my VA.
  • Found tons of buyer keywords for WHQ that have fairly low competition. My VA is working on this right now!
  • Bought some Web 2.0 links for my WHQ site.
  • Joined a group SEO buy group and got access to Ahrefs, Semrush, and many more tools for cheap. This is how I was able to find tons of keywords easily!

Offline I:

  • Struggled with juggling all of the things that come with being a college student.
    • Such as tons of homework.
    • FOMO aka fear of missing out. No matter what you’re doing, you’re always missing out on something awesome.
  • Realized that I do enjoy programming and computer science.

Goals:

Most of these goals are Amazon affiliate focused as I decided to focus on one thing instead of stretching myself too thin.

  • Finalize and publish 30 half-done posts on WHQ. SUCCEEDED I reviewed and published exactly 30 posts. I currently have 21 posts sitting in drafts so I gotta get on that this month.
  • Write at least 10 posts myself by October 15th on WHQFAILED When I say I failed this I mean that I haven’t written a single word except for when I edited my VA’s writing. I don’t have any time to write now though because of school so I’m okay with that.
  • Teach my VA basic outreach and SEO strategies and start them after October 15th. FAILED I decided that it’s more important to publish content targeting low-competition keywords so I have more content up by Black Friday and Christmas. Instead I bought a couple of Web 2.0s, and while they won’t give me a huge boost, it should still give me a bit.
  • Figure out which posts I can rank before Black Friday/Christmas, which posts I should wait on, and whether there are any holiday specific posts I should do. SUCCEEDED I found the lowest competition/highest value search terms and now I have my VA writing Top X product posts for that.

September 2016 Income Reports and Plans

onlinemoneyz-september-income-reportThis is my 19th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in September

I already covered a part of September in my last income report so I’ll just do a quick recap of that:

As you can see I’m posting this income report in the middle of September which is 2 weeks later than usual, and that’s because August was an incredibly busy month for me.

I moved all the way accross the country with my parents, and then moved back nearly to the same place two weeks later for college.

I had a surprising amount of time to work on my online businesses during that time as I had nothing else to do in between unpacking and moving out.

Online I:

  • Hired my first full-time VA.
  • Bought PBN links for my BNT site.
  • Found 50 low-medium competition buyer keywords for WHQ that add up to about 130,000 searches per month.- I should be able to rank a couple of them before the holiday season, and the rest will just get ranked later on.
  • Bought $260 worth of keywords when I couldn’t do research myself.

Offline I:

  • Started a new polyphasic sleep experiment.
  • Moved to Lousiana with my parents.
  • Moved back to Michigan for college and started my college career!
  • Survived my first month of college!

Goals:

I’m currently focusing on Amazon Affiliate, and while I didn’t technically accomplish all of my goals in August, my VA helped me accomplish all of them and more in September so that counts, right?

  • Teach my VA my whole image editing, uploading, and posting process. SUCCEEDED!
  • Publish at least 15 of the posts that are in my backlog. FAILED I reviewed my VA’s writing for more than 15 posts, but I only recently taught her how to deal with the images and links so she’s working on that now. Once that’s done I’ll have 10-20 articles ready to go right now!
  • Get a couple of Web 2.0s and other weak links pointing to WHQ in order to slowly start building momentum. FAILED I’m currently looking to have a couple Web 2.0s built for me, but I didn’t get any links this month.

August 2016 Income Report and Plans

august-income-reportThis is my 18th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in August/Part of September

As you can see I’m posting this income report in the middle of September which is 2 weeks later than usual, and that’s because August was an incredibly busy month for me.

I moved all the way accross the country with my parents, and then moved back nearly to the same place two weeks later for college.

I had a surprising amount of time to work on my online businesses during that time as I had nothing else to do in between unpacking and moving out.

Online I:

  • Hired my first full-time VA! I hired her through Onlinejobs.ph after getting about 20 applications. She’s been great so far and MUCH better than the Indian VA that I’ve used previously. Hoping to keep her for a long time.
  • Revived my BNT affiliate site by buying 5 PBN links to it for $100 for 4 months, which catapulted it to the top of Google and now it’s making me $100-$200 per month when before it made me anywhere between $0-$100 per month.
  • Found a ton of keywords to use for my WHQ site. My VA is writing content for this site currently using my templates. I do have to edit the articles and add some photos and links to them, but I haven’t had time because of real life obligations. (I should probably just show my VA how to do this as it will simplify the process for me greatly. I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this yet!)
  • Wrote a couple posts for my new, high-end products site, but I don’t have a logo and only have 1 post up and 3 somewhat done posts. I spent 5+ hours on each post for this site, and right now I can’t write articles for it because of real life commitments.
  • Bought $60 worth of keywords from two different sellers. Both of the keywords were great and definitely worth the time of buying them instead of finding them myself. However, I splurged on $200 worth of keywords in the beginning of September and while it was expensive, I don’t have time to do keyword research right now.

Offline I:

  • Moved to Lousiana with my parents.
  • Moved back to Michigan for college and started my college career! There’s a surprising amount of homework and there’s SO MANY things to do. Choosing between different clubs, evening activities, and friends vs homework is tough. If it wasn’t for my VA, I wouldn’t have accomplished anything in September.

Goals:

I’m currently focusing on Amazon Affiliate, and while I didn’t technically accomplish all of my goals in August, my VA helped me accomplish all of them and more in September so that counts, right?

  • Get 10 more product review posts on the site and one huge “best of” review post. FAILEDAlthough I technically failed this because I didn’t focus on the right site, I’d like to say that I somewhat succeed. There are at least 20 posts in my backlog on WHQ to check, add links to, and post, and the hardest part of writing them is done.
  • Figure out at least 3 ways of getting whitehat backlinks to the site. FAILEDThis one I didn’t do at all. Whoops?

July 2016 Income Report and Plans

Onlinemoneyz-July-Income-ReportThis is my 17th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in July/Part of August

July was an eye-opening and busy month for me.

It might seem like I didn’t do much, but moving my sites took me over 30 hours of pure work-time. (This doesn’t include procrastination time.) 😉

Online I:

  • Switched hosting for this site, my biggest Amazon Affiliate site, and also created a new site using that hosting. I switched from BlueHost to A2Hosting and it is AWESOME!
    • All of my websites are at least 1 second faster, they haven’t gone down at all (1 of my BlueHost sites already had 20 minutes of downtime since the move), and while I did have a ton of issues with moving one of my sites, it all worked out in the end.
  • Realized that my previous website idea wasn’t great after seeing a similar site on sale on EmpireFlippers. Their site was getting 300,000-400,000 visitors per month and only making $450 per month so I didn’t want to end up like them.
  • Started a new Amazon affiliate site in a new niche. This will be my main authority site targeting high value keywords. Some of the sub-niches for this site are quite competitive, but others are easy to rank for.

Offline I:

  • Took a week off from all of my businesses. (I actually had my highest Amazon affiliate day ever when I was gone, which is kind of funny. When I don’t work I make more money than when I do work.)
  • Helped my family get ready for the move to Louisiana. (We’re moving to Louisiana from Michigan, and then two weeks later I’m moving back to Michigan to go to college here. It’s a pain, but I’ll manage.)

Goals:

I wrote my ultimate goal post 2 months ago, and I think I finally found the right way to earn enough money to pay for college.

I’ve accomplished some of the goals below, but that’s irrelevant because they don’t matter anymore.

Why create a site using a new method of monetization and a new niche when I can keep focusing on what’s been working great for me: Amazon affiliate.

  • Get at least 30 more posts up on my gaming guides site.
    • At least 15 of these posts should be about Clash Royale.
    • The rest can be about random Ketchapp games or .IO games.
  • Publish at least 15 videos on the YouTube channel.- I was planning on having a video for every post, but not each post might need a video.
  • Contact other Clash Royale writers and video creators and ask if I can use some of their content for my site with a link to their YouTube channel, reddit profile, etc…- I saw another big site in the Clash Royale niche doing this, but I think he’s just copy and pasting content without permission so he’ll get caught eventually. He also has a ton of issues with duplicate content on the site so I’m not too worried about it.
  • Create a Facebook and Tumblr page for the gaming site and connect them to the Jetpack post autopublisher.
  • Fix up the theme a bit, and open the site up to Google.
    • Add menus.
    • Figure out the layout of the homepage.
    • Figure out the size of the featured images.
    • Create redirects from category pages to me-created pages.
