August 2016 Income Report and Plans

august-income-reportThis is my 18th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in August/Part of September

As you can see I’m posting this income report in the middle of September which is 2 weeks later than usual, and that’s because August was an incredibly busy month for me.

I moved all the way accross the country with my parents, and then moved back nearly to the same place two weeks later for college.

I had a surprising amount of time to work on my online businesses during that time as I had nothing else to do in between unpacking and moving out.

Online I:

  • Hired my first full-time VA! I hired her through Onlinejobs.ph after getting about 20 applications. She’s been great so far and MUCH better than the Indian VA that I’ve used previously. Hoping to keep her for a long time.
  • Revived my BNT affiliate site by buying 5 PBN links to it for $100 for 4 months, which catapulted it to the top of Google and now it’s making me $100-$200 per month when before it made me anywhere between $0-$100 per month.
  • Found a ton of keywords to use for my WHQ site. My VA is writing content for this site currently using my templates. I do have to edit the articles and add some photos and links to them, but I haven’t had time because of real life obligations. (I should probably just show my VA how to do this as it will simplify the process for me greatly. I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this yet!)
  • Wrote a couple posts for my new, high-end products site, but I don’t have a logo and only have 1 post up and 3 somewhat done posts. I spent 5+ hours on each post for this site, and right now I can’t write articles for it because of real life commitments.
  • Bought $60 worth of keywords from two different sellers. Both of the keywords were great and definitely worth the time of buying them instead of finding them myself. However, I splurged on $200 worth of keywords in the beginning of September and while it was expensive, I don’t have time to do keyword research right now.

Offline I:

  • Moved to Lousiana with my parents.
  • Moved back to Michigan for college and started my college career! There’s a surprising amount of homework and there’s SO MANY things to do. Choosing between different clubs, evening activities, and friends vs homework is tough. If it wasn’t for my VA, I wouldn’t have accomplished anything in September.

Goals:

I’m currently focusing on Amazon Affiliate, and while I didn’t technically accomplish all of my goals in August, my VA helped me accomplish all of them and more in September so that counts, right?

  • Get 10 more product review posts on the site and one huge “best of” review post. FAILEDAlthough I technically failed this because I didn’t focus on the right site, I’d like to say that I somewhat succeed. There are at least 20 posts in my backlog on WHQ to check, add links to, and post, and the hardest part of writing them is done.
  • Figure out at least 3 ways of getting whitehat backlinks to the site. FAILEDThis one I didn’t do at all. Whoops?

July 2016 Income Report and Plans

Onlinemoneyz-July-Income-ReportThis is my 17th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in July/Part of August

July was an eye-opening and busy month for me.

It might seem like I didn’t do much, but moving my sites took me over 30 hours of pure work-time. (This doesn’t include procrastination time.) 😉

Online I:

  • Switched hosting for this site, my biggest Amazon Affiliate site, and also created a new site using that hosting. I switched from BlueHost to A2Hosting and it is AWESOME!
    • All of my websites are at least 1 second faster, they haven’t gone down at all (1 of my BlueHost sites already had 20 minutes of downtime since the move), and while I did have a ton of issues with moving one of my sites, it all worked out in the end.
  • Realized that my previous website idea wasn’t great after seeing a similar site on sale on EmpireFlippers. Their site was getting 300,000-400,000 visitors per month and only making $450 per month so I didn’t want to end up like them.
  • Started a new Amazon affiliate site in a new niche. This will be my main authority site targeting high value keywords. Some of the sub-niches for this site are quite competitive, but others are easy to rank for.

Offline I:

  • Took a week off from all of my businesses. (I actually had my highest Amazon affiliate day ever when I was gone, which is kind of funny. When I don’t work I make more money than when I do work.)
  • Helped my family get ready for the move to Louisiana. (We’re moving to Louisiana from Michigan, and then two weeks later I’m moving back to Michigan to go to college here. It’s a pain, but I’ll manage.)

Goals:

I wrote my ultimate goal post 2 months ago, and I think I finally found the right way to earn enough money to pay for college.

I’ve accomplished some of the goals below, but that’s irrelevant because they don’t matter anymore.

Why create a site using a new method of monetization and a new niche when I can keep focusing on what’s been working great for me: Amazon affiliate.

  • Get at least 30 more posts up on my gaming guides site.
    • At least 15 of these posts should be about Clash Royale.
    • The rest can be about random Ketchapp games or .IO games.
  • Publish at least 15 videos on the YouTube channel.- I was planning on having a video for every post, but not each post might need a video.
  • Contact other Clash Royale writers and video creators and ask if I can use some of their content for my site with a link to their YouTube channel, reddit profile, etc…- I saw another big site in the Clash Royale niche doing this, but I think he’s just copy and pasting content without permission so he’ll get caught eventually. He also has a ton of issues with duplicate content on the site so I’m not too worried about it.
  • Create a Facebook and Tumblr page for the gaming site and connect them to the Jetpack post autopublisher.
  • Fix up the theme a bit, and open the site up to Google.
    • Add menus.
    • Figure out the layout of the homepage.
    • Figure out the size of the featured images.
    • Create redirects from category pages to me-created pages.

June 2016 Income Report and Plans

June-Income-ReportThis is my 16th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in June

June was a pretty productive month for me and I was finally able to start focusing on my new big venture.

Online I:

  • Merged my reddit advertising site with this site.- That’s why there have been so many reddit advertising posts lately.
  • Updated the content on my BAB affiliate site, and added a couple more sections to each of the 30 posts.- I’m getting a steady stream of natural backlinks to the site so I’m hoping the rankings will go up before the hot season for the site is upon us.
  • Started my new big venture.- I don’t want to share the URL yet, because I don’t want Google checking my site yet.
    • Bought a domain and setup the WP site.
    • Bought a logo from Fiverr.
    • Installed a theme and got most of the things looking how I want them to. There’s still a couple issues that need to be fixed though.
    • Created an outline for all of my posts and videos.- This will make it much easier to pump out 2-3 posts per day which is what I need to do right now.
    • Published one post and video.- Took me longer than I would’ve liked it to, but I was figuring out the best way to do everything.
  • I also read through many real estate investing blogs, and while that’s something I can see myself doing later on in life, I think website investing is the best option for me. It might be a bit more risky, but I can handle the risk at my age.

Offline I:

  • Took college entrance exams and had my orientation.- Gotta do these things, you know? Takes away time from work, but it’s not like I’m 100% productive all the time anyway.
  • Installed You Need a Budget- I want to know where my money is going and I’m going to put the money I’m not using to work. I invested my tax money into Kickfurther, and I might invest more into it as the returns are pretty sweet for not working at all.

Goals:

This is my second month having this section, and it’s my first full month after writing my ultimate goal post.

  • Edit the posts on BAB and prepare them for next year. SUCCEEDED
  • Figure out the rankings of my posts on BAB and add some content and small backlinks to the ones that are close to being at the top. SUCCEEDED I figured out the rankings, but I was getting a lot of natural links so I decided not to mess with it.
  • Merge OnlineMoneyz, Snooads, and JVReviews. SUCCEEDED
  • Start working on my game guides project.- This is the big one. PARTIALLY SUCCEEDED– I finished everything except for the Facebook page, Tumblr page, and writing the specific game guides. I have an outline setup though and I even did the keyword research for a total of almost 350,000 searches so I think I succeeded here.
    • Buy a domain.
    • Set up the basic WP site layout.
    • Plan out the categories and sections.
    • Plan out the content/videos.
    • Create the YouTube channel, Facebook page, and Tumblr page.
    • Start writing Clash Royale and Diep.io guides.

May 2016 Income Report and Plans

OM-May-Income-ReportThis is my 15th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in May

May was a chaotic mix of school graduation stuff, partying, and track so I once again didn’t have time to do much.

Online I:

  • Hired a VA.- Worth it for $2 an hour, but the English barrier can be a bit of a pain at times.
  • Published my huge post!- I’ll be adding some lead magnets and editing a bit of it, but it’s mostly complete.
  • Joined a Mastermind Facebook group.- So far it’s definitely worth it.
  • Figured out what I’m going to focus on for the next 3 months.

Offline I:

  • Finally graduated!- We’re not in high school anymore Toto.
  • Ran at the big State meet with my track team and watched 3 of our guys break school records.
  • Partied with my senior class.
  • Did a bunch of work for college entrance stuff.- Entrance exams are a pain.

Goals:

Last month was the first time I had this section, and funnily enough last month was also the month that I pivoted in the way I look at big goals.

  • Finally publish my huge postSUCCEEDED– I published it right before writing this post. That counts, right? 😉
  • Clean up the number of websites that I have and shift to having multiple authority sites instead of many small sites. FAILED– I didn’t even work on this at all.
  • Add at least 4 articles to one of my newer Amazon affiliate sites. FAILED– All 3 of my writers started ignoring me on UpWork and didn’t complete the job. I fired them, but didn’t find new ones.
  • Clean up my Amazon affiliate sites. FAILED– I haven’t even worked on this at all.
  • Create and publish the dang reddit ads course. FAILED– After talking about my goals and monetary plans with Josh, I decided that this isn’t worth it.
  • Publish at least 1 post per week on OnlineMoneyz. FAILED– I got about two posts done last month. Three if you count my big post. I’m still happy with the results though.

As you can see I failed most of my goals, but I’m surprisingly happy about it.

I now know that I need to focus on one main thing to succeed, and that one main thing will be a gaming guides website.

Plans For June

I always set a ton of goals and then end up not accomplishing most of them.

From now one my goals will align with my goal of paying for college using my online income, and the idea of focus. (I’ll only focus on one big project at a time.)

Goals:

  • Edit the posts on BAB and prepare them for next year.
  • Figure out the rankings of my posts on BAB and add some content and small backlinks to the ones that are close to being at the top.
  • Merge OnlineMoneyz, Snooads, and JVReviews.
  • Start working on my game guides project.- This is the big one.

Website Traffic

The traffic is increasing even though I didn’t do anything this month.

OM May Traffic

April 2016 Income Report and Plans

OnlineMoneyz-April-Income-ReportThis is my 14th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in April

While it might not look like I accomplished a lot in April, it was a very busy month for me both online and offline wise.

Online I:

  • Finished the local website work and will get paid for it this month.
  • Planned out my outsourcing strategy for the future and set milestones for my Upwork writer.
  • Got featured on Matthew Woodward’s income report roundup- Free traffic, backlinks, and simply super awesome to be on his site!
  • Commented on a bunch of blogs in order to build relationships, get links, and traffic. –This will be its own post, and I might even do a big project on this.

Offline I:

  • Spent a ton of time running with my track team.
  • Got hammered with AP exam prep and other homework.
  • Read a ton of books on selling, marketing, and stuff like that.- Too much reading, not enough action!

Plans For May

I always set a ton of goals and then end up not accomplishing most of them so from now on I’ll have a goals section here that I’ll have to check off in my next income reports.

Goals:

  • Finally publish my huge post. -This is happening no matter what. Whether I’m ready or not, I’m publishing it this month.
  • Clean up the number of websites that I have and shift to having multiple authority sites instead of many small sites.
  • Add at least 4 articles to one of my newer Amazon affiliate sites.
  • Clean up my Amazon affiliate sites. –I want to get rid of the ones that aren’t making me money, double down on those that are making me money, and start a different authority site to combine a couple of the smaller ones I have.
  • Create and publish the dang reddit ads course. -This just has to be done. Period.
  • Publish at least 1 post per week on OnlineMoneyz. -I never post enough on this blog and I always feel bad about it so I think it’s time to change!

Website Traffic

I’ve been doing some blog comments which got me some extra traffic, but not a lot.

You can see a big bump of traffic on the 29th though because that’s when I got featured on Matthew Woodward’s income report roundup.

It’s a nice visitor boost, but I need to have more content on my site to actually convert them to long-time readers.

Here’s my traffic for the month:

March 2016 Income Report and Plans

March-Income-ReportThis is my 13th income report for this blog.

Every month I publish a post like this showing:

  • how much money I made
  • what I worked on
  • and what my plans are for the future.

These reports will help me keep myself accountable, and hopefully I can help you figure out how you can make money online.

What I Did in March

March was a pretty quiet month for my website because most of my focus was elsewhere.

Most of my time was spent on completing stuff for the NichePursuits membership and I’ve gotta say that it’s been an amazing experience.

I still have 1 more week in the internship, and I’ve gotten so much value from it it’s crazy.

I combined their keyword research process with mine and I’ve already found 40+ super-low competition keywords I can use for one of my sites.

I also:

  • Got hired by a local business to build a website for them.
  • Added images to my huge post and edited the wording. I now need to create all of the lead magnets and it should be ready to go. (I know this post is taking forever to create, but it’ll be worth it!)
  • Figured out the quality that Udemy is happy with. (Only took me 4 test videos!)
  • Watched a ton of webinars and took notes to see what I liked and didn’t like about each one.

Plans For April

I have 10 days of spring break and I have a ton of stuff I want to do. (As always.)

During the month (or mostly spring break) I will:

  • Complete the NichePursuits internship.
  • Record and publish my first course on Udemy. (I’ll send everyone on my email list a huge coupon when it goes live. Wink, wink.)
  • Finish the local business’ website.
  • Finally publish my huge post. (I’m taking forever. I know. Sorry!)
  • Add at least 10 more money-articles to my Amazon affiliate sites. (March was an amazing Amazon affiliate month for me, but it might drop down in April and May so I need to put up some evergreen articles to keep a consistent income.)
  • Start a new journey using a no-seo Clickbank method that anyone can use to make money. (Or so they say.)
  • And much more stuff that I’m keeping secret for now. 😉

I probably won’t complete even half of what I have to do, but finishing some of it is better than nothing at all.

Website Traffic

My traffic didn’t change much, but that’s because I haven’t done anything to increase it. Read more
